What is the difference between an appointed person and a first aider?

The main differences between an appointed person and a first aider are that the first aider will make the initial assessment of an injury or illness and deliver appropriate first aid to the injured or ill person until help arrives.

An appointed person takes charge of first aid provisions, they are not usually trained to perform first aid and are not required to hold a formal first aid qualification.

A first aider is a person who is qualified to deal with first aid emergencies and give treatment in the event of an injury or illness in the workplace.
